What it’s for
Two tools in one. (1) Cake toppers: a one- or two-line text, with an optional emoji on top, joined by an outline and with sticks to push into the cake; it can be one color or two, with raised letters. (2) Standing 3D letters and numbers, solid or hollow to put LED lights inside, with an optional plinth so they stand on their own.
Ideas
- Birthday cake topper with the name and age.
- Wedding, christening or graduation topper.
- Decorative standing letters for a shelf («HOME», initials).
- Big hollow numbers with lights for a 15th or 18th birthday party.
Step by step
- Choose «What to make»: cake topper or standing 3D letters (or start from a preset).
- In «Text» type the text (and the second line, for toppers), choose the font and the size.
- For toppers, add an emoji on top if you want and adjust the outline, thickness, colors and sticks.
- For 3D letters, choose the depth, whether they’re hollow and whether they have a plinth.
- Export. In two-color toppers, the relief comes out as another part to assign another filament.
Tips
- Handwritten keeps the letters joined, ideal for toppers; with separate letters the outline joins them.
- For two colors without a multicolor printer, change the filament at the layer where the relief starts.
- Toppers touch the cake: use food-safe PLA or wrap the sticks in cling film.
- For LED letters, a thin front face (1–1.2 mm) in white or natural lets the light through.
Presets
Parameters
Text
What it says, in which font and at what size.
«Cake topper»: flat text with an outline and sticks to push in. «Standing 3D letters / numbers»: each letter with depth, standing on its own.
Main text: a phrase («Happy birthday»), an age or a word. In 3D letters, each character comes out as a separate part.
Second line of the topper, under the first (for example the name). Leave it empty for a single line.
Font. «Handwritten» keeps the letters joined, ideal for toppers; «Condensed» is tall and modern, good for numbers; «Rounded» is simple and legible.
Height of the capital letters. For toppers, 18–30 mm; for standing letters, 50–150 mm.
Size of the second line relative to the first. More than 1 makes it bigger (for example, the name highlighted under «Happy birthday»).
Optional emoji above the text (crown, rings, graduation cap). Search for it by name in Spanish. Leave it empty for none.
Height of the emoji on top. Similar to the letter height looks balanced.
Topper
Shape of the cake topper: outline, thickness, colors and sticks.
Width of the outline around the letters that joins them into a single part. 2–3 mm is sturdy; thinner may break.
Thickness of the topper (without the relief). 3 mm is sturdy and doesn’t bend.
«One color»: a flat part. «Two colors»: the letters are raised over the outline, as a separate part to print in another color.
How far the letters stick out on the two-color topper. 0.8–1.2 mm shows well.
Number of sticks to push into the cake. 2 hold it straight; 3 for wide toppers.
Length of the sticks under the topper. 50–70 mm push firmly into a cake.
Width of the sticks. 5 mm is sturdy; thinner ones may break when pushed in.
3D letters
Standing letters or numbers: depth, hollow and plinth.
Depth of the 3D letters (front to back). Deeper ones stand more firmly.
Makes the letters hollow at the back, to put an LED strip or fairy lights inside.
Thickness of the side walls of hollow letters. 2 mm is sturdy.
Thickness of the front face of hollow letters. Thin (1–1.2 mm) in white or natural lets the light through.
Adds a wider plinth under each letter so it stands on its own without tipping over.
Height of the letters’ plinth. 5–8 mm is enough for them to stand on their own.
